Following on the goldfish theme, I used a scan of a goldfish and added it onto a cutout from yesterdays collage. The fragment above is cut from a postcard that I made. Handmade Korean paper, Washi Tape and a rubber stamp of flowers complete this.

A fragment from one of my mail art postcards is centered in the fish bowl. The Korean hand made paper formed the fishbowl image and origami paper was used for the table and the curtains in the background. I used my Sharpie pen to draw on the images.

I love daffodils. There are some about to bloom in front of my studio window. Today we had sun and the temperature went up to 80 degrees. I saw my first blooming crocus today. The daffodils will not be far behind.
I covered a sheet of card stock with several layers of tissue and art paper. When it was dry, I wrote the alphabet over and over until I had filled the page, using a sharp felt tipped pen. I then scanned a daffodil photograph over the alphabet. My last layer was another set of daffodils scanned onto vellum and then re-drawn in pen and markers. This was pasted over the fainter images. Of course I used Washi Tape. I always do.

Mary Englebright and Celestial Seasons Tea have given me images to use today. Along with Washi Tape, Origami Paper, rubber stamps and Pitt Artist's pens, this piece is able to present a complicated structure that will still hold its own inside a frame.

Handmade papers from Korea and Japan made the base for this collage. The Somerset Palace was the hotel that we stayed in last fall. By keeping one of these cards with us would assure us of a smooth trip back by taxi from where ever we were. The red markings arond the center are from vintage tea purveyors tissue. Hello Kitty loves to insert herself into my work since she knows how fond I am of her. The chicadees are here to speak of the ground thawing and spring coming.

Rosie the Riveter is holding strong with her "Darn Tough" logo, but the sunflower queen of Papyrus Papers is trying to crowd her out. There are pieces of silver paper, silver stickers, bare feet and hand stickers, and rub-on transfer stars, cutouts from my quilts, and Washi Tape are all included in this. I think this Sunflower Goddess is pretty proud of herself and I am not sure that Rosie will meet her match.

In the fall 2009 issue of Quilting Arts, my quilt was on the cover. This collage is several scans reassingned to new positions. The original quilt was made from white fabric, printed with gelatain monoprinting technique.

This collage started its life as a postcard mailed from Korea. The small cartoon characters and the Toblerone label were glued on before it took its maiden voyage. Later, it took on American stamps, bird stickers and a stamped green lizard. I glued this to a larger backing and added the images from Tiffany featured in The Metropolatin Museum of Art, the clock faces, the dress form and framed portrait . Washi tape finishes it off. I like the small bird images on the tape and the peacock images in the body of the work.

The Metropolitain Museum of Art sent me their catalog last week. A beautiful enameled pansy was featured on the front cover. Inside were all kinds of image from Tiffany inspiration. The shirt, dragon fly and bracelet head dress are all Tiffany, as is the folded fan that started its life as a chandelier. The woman modeling this is not sure who dressed her because she seems to be wearing these jewels in unusual ways. Imagine being able to stand tall with that kind of jewel at the neck?
